Founded in 2012, the Young Men Foundation Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence is a network of young men across Nigeria. It cuts across the socio-cultural, economic and religious statuses of young men. There is one goal: to end gender based violence in all of its forms in Nigeria and by extension, Africa. Young male leaders mobilise to challenge cultural perceptions and stereotypes that fuel gender-based violence (especially sexual violence) and oppression against women and girls while influencing attitudes and behaviours in their various communities as change agents.
The network has active membership of over 500 young men from all walks of life in 14 States in Nigeria. Each State has at least 35 members. The network is coordinated at the centre by the National Coordinator and State Coordinators in the State chapters.
The network enjoys goodwill from UNFPA, UN-Women, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, among others in Nigeria and has carried out a number of activities in collaboration with Education as a Vaccine and Voice 4 Change – Nigeria.
