Show them we care: the Day of the African Child 2015

Today is the Day of the African Child, marking the nearly 40th anniversary of when thousands of black South African school children took to Soweto’s streets to protest against their inferior quality education. 

In 1991, and in the spirit of fighting for the rights of African children, the African Union Assembly passed a resolution designating 16th June as a day to celebrate the African child; a day when all can unite to speak out for the rights of African children so they know we care.
