New funding enables grassroots organisations in Africa to increase momentum towards ending FGM

20 May 2016

This month, The Girl Generation launched a new End FGM Grants Programme in Kenya.

The programme, funded by the Human Dignity Foundation, provides much needed support to poorly resourced grassroots organisations working to end FGM in The Girl Generation's focal countries.

Given the challenges such organisations face in accessing funds, this programme uses a flexible, non-bureaucratic, rapid and responsive model that will enable them to access funds quickly, making a significant contribution towards building the movement and ending FGM in one generation.

In Kenya, in the initial phase we invited a select number of grassroots organisations, including both The Girl Generation member and non-member organisations, to apply for our competitive round of grant funding. The successful applicants will be announced in the coming weeks.

This summer, we will be extending the reach of the grants programme and opening up the call for funding proposals to any eligible grassroots organisation in Kenya.

By June 2016, the End FGM Grants Programme will be launched in Nigeria and The Gambia.
